The Background
When international law firm DAC Beachcroft relocated to The Welcome Building in Bristol, taking over 44,196 sq ft of premium office space, they had a clear vision to create a flexible, future-focused workplace. They wanted a space that reflected their refreshed brand and used intelligent biophilic design to put wellbeing at its heart.
Their workplace design and build partner, Claremont, brought PlantCare in as their trusted biophilic design specialist following successful collaborations across previous projects in London, Manchester and Glasgow offices. We worked closely with the team to ensure key details like planter depths and placements were specified correctly to deliver the ambitious scale of planting envisioned.
The Challenge
Create a bespoke biophilic scheme that brings nature into the space in a meaningful, embedded way – with a particular focus on integrated furniture and layout.
Our Approach
Working in close collaboration with Claremont and the bespoke joinery teams, we delivered a high-impact, design-led planting scheme tailored to the building’s open-plan layout. Custom waterproof liners were designed off-site to fit precisely into the joinery, ensuring both function and finish.
The Outcome
The finished space is a vibrant, elegant and thoughtfully zoned workplace where biophilic elements are used strategically to support zoning, soften acoustics and enhance wellbeing. Planting is integrated into joinery, layered across levels and positioned to maintain a cohesive layout while subtly shaping distinct areas within the office.
Key Features Include:
A striking understairs feature with multi-height live planting, bringing depth and energy to a high-traffic zone.
Faux trailing greenery from ceiling rafts, adding texture and acoustic softening above the eye level.
Integrated planters in touchdown bars, introducing natural texture and calm to social and breakout areas.
Discreet planting around banquette seating to define areas while preserving an open, connected space.
