Large indoor trees are a great way to create eye-catching statements. Internal trees help to improve and soften the aesthetics of large open spaces such as atriums, interior street scenes or office areas.

With over 40 years of experience of designing and delivering interior tree schemes, our team have the knowledge to take your indoor tree project through from initial design to installation and ongoing maintenance of the trees.

Types of Indoor Trees

The species of tree suitable for your office space can depend on the size of the area and the light levels. The most commonly used types of internal trees for offices are Ficus Trees, as they are semi-tropical trees and live well in many office environments. There are several forms, or shapes, of tree available:

  • Mop-head tree; the most popular type of tree for offices, this is a standard ‘tree form’ shape with a clear trunk.

  • Leaf-to-pot tree; this is a tree with foliage all the way up the stems, with no clear trunk.

  • Branched trees; these are trees with multiple stems.

Indoor Tree Planters

Bespoke Planters. We can provide a waterproof liner to sit within a bespoke planter or joinery piece. The liners can be made to pretty much any shape and size to fit your internal tree planter.

Standard Planters. There are a range of different office tree planters available, these can be finished in unique colours to match your interior design or brand colours.

Tree Pits. These are usually concrete pits that we can provide waterproof liners for. This is a great way of concealing the root ball system of large atrium trees.

To help you plan your interior trees we have created a guide for you to download to ensure you have the right conditions and a big enough tree pit for your tree to survive. PlantCare Guide to Indoor Trees.pdf

Installation of Large Interior Trees

A lot of indoor trees can be installed by hand, depending on the weight of the tree and the size of the planter. For any large trees our team would usually use a small spider crane to lift the trees into location.

As a general rule of thumb for access, any tree up to approx. 7m will fit through a standard double door width. It is always good to discuss a project you may have so that we can review things such as access and feasibility of installation.
